After a number of qualifying
events and a very competitive semi final event, the ANA Synchers advanced 5
routines to the final round
of competition at the eSynchro US Age Group National Championship meet in Oxford,
Ohio, June 23-30.
The Synchers placed two
teams in the top 10 in their respective age groups. In 18-19 competition, the
team took home a sixth-place finish
for their Fiesta themed team routine. Team members include Ashley Cohen, Jessica
Mancini, Kelly Mahoney, and Faryn Shiro of Andover,
Meaghan Arsenault and Maggie Conlon of Methuen, Stephanie Garcia Restrepo of
Billerica, and Charlotte Gorski of Manchester, NH.
Garcia Restrepo swam her
way to two individual silver medals, one for technical figures, and one for
a dramatic solo performance to music
from The Last Passion of Christ. She also teamed with Conlon and Cohen for a
seventh-place trio finish. Conlon and Cohen rounded out the
18-19 competition with a 9th place duet performance.
The Synchers' 16-17 age
group team also placed in the top ten, earning a 9th place finish with a routine
set to a medley of Big Top music
favorites. Team members include Amber Blum, Rebecca Ely, Emily Ingram, and Hannah
Straus of North Andover, Sheila Cremin,
Erica Potts, Emily Stone of Andover, and Claire Rudder of Sudbury.
The eSynchro US Age Group
Championships is the largest synchronized swimming competition in the world,
with over 1000 swimmers
from clubs across the country. The Synchers brought 26 swimmers to this meet,
including swimmers in the 13-15 and 11-12 age groups.
Other team members competing include Laina Gray, Sarah Higgins, Caitlyn MacGregor,
Alice Rodgers, Alison Ziel of North Andover,
Marian Crockett, Geena Denny, Candace Ju, and Christine Wu of Andover, and Alyson
Arsenault of Methuen.
