ANA Synchers Swim to Success at East Zone Championships
The ANA Synchers set new club and individual records at the East Zone Senior Championships held in New Canaan, Connecticut March 10-11.
In team competition, the "Fiesta" A-team swam to a bronze medal finish, beating ANA's previous best team finish of 5th place at this meet. The "Fiesta" team includes swimmers Ashley Cohen, Kelly Mahoney, Jessica Mancini, and Faryn Shiro, all of Andover, Meaghan Arsenault and Maggie Conlon of Methuen, Stephanie Garcia Restrepo of North Billerica, and Charlotte Gorski of Manchester, NH.
ANA's B-team, swimming to a "Circus" medley, faced tough competition in New Canaan but still managed to pull in a 10th place finish marking the first time that ANA has had two teams with top-10 finishes at the Senior Zone meet. This team featured swimmers Sheila Cremin, Erica Potts, and Emily Stone, all of Andover, Amber Blum, Rebecca Ely, and Emily Ingram, all of North Andover, and Claire Rudder of Sudbury.
Taking home silver medals for their performance in a "Cirque du Soleil" trio, Ashley Cohen, Stephanie Garcia Restrepo, and Maggie Conlon again showed ANA's strengths. Restrepo shined yet again picking up another silver medal in solo.
At this meet, several other solos, duets and trios also garnered qualifying scores to compete in this summer's US Open Championship meet in Hawaii. Truly an impressive performance at the East Zone Senior Championships by the ANA Synchers!
